HSSC CET Exam Pattern ( CET Haryana परीक्षा पैटर्न 2026 ): अंकन योजना और 5वें विकल्प का नियम
Understanding the HSSC CET exam pattern is the first step toward success. The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) follows a specific offline OMR-based pattern for both Group C and Group D exams.

2. Marking Scheme | अंकन योजना
The Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) follows a unique marking scheme for the Common Eligibility Test (CET). Each correct answer carries 0.975 marks, making the total written examination worth 97.5 marks.
- Each Correct Answer: +0.975 Mark
- Incorrect Answer: There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
- Unattempted Questions: Candidates are required to mark one of the available options for every question. Leaving a question completely unattempted may attract a deduction as per the instructions mentioned in the official HSSC notification.
- Socio-Economic Criteria & Experience: Earlier HSSC recruitment notifications provided 2.5% weightage under the Socio-Economic Criteria and Experience category. Since this provision has been revised and has also been subject to legal and policy changes, candidates should always refer to the latest official HSSC notification for the applicable marking scheme.
3. The “5th Option” Rule (Most Important) | 5वें विकल्प का नियम
To maintain transparency and prevent OMR tampering, HSSC has introduced a mandatory 5th option (Option E).
- How it works: Every question will have 5 options (A, B, C, D, and E).
- If you know the answer: Mark A, B, C, or D.
- If you DON’T know the answer: You MUST mark Option E.
- The Penalty: If you leave all 5 options blank (unattempted), 0.975 marks will be deducted for that question.
- Extra Time: Candidates are given 5 extra minutes (Total 105 mins) specifically to ensure all 5th options are filled.
4. Subject-Wise Distribution | विषय-वार वितरण
The paper is divided into two parts as per the official HSSC guidelines:
Part A: General Subjects (75% Weightage)
This includes:
- General Awareness, Reasoning, Maths, Science, Computer, English, and Hindi.
- Note: Usually, 10-15 questions are asked from each sub-topic.
Part B: Haryana Knowledge (25% Weightage)
This includes:
- History, Current Affairs, Literature, Geography, Civics, and Environment of Haryana.
- Note: Exactly 25 questions are dedicated to the state of Haryana.
5. Qualifying Marks | योग्यता अंक
To be considered for the merit list, candidates must score the minimum qualifying marks:
- General Category: 50% (excluding socio-economic marks).
- Reserved Categories: 40% (excluding socio-economic marks).
